Interesting Fact (Liverpool): Liverpool was designated as UNESCO global heritage site in 2004.

 

Later in 2008, Liverpool was named the European capital of culture because of its unique maritime history and creative culture.

 

Talking of creativity, you may already appreciate the fact that Liverpool is home to The Beatles which can now be seen through The Beatles Museum.

 

Liverpool’s cast iron structures and brickwork had led the city to have over 2500 listed buildings including the Port of Liverpool building, Tower building, Victoria building and Liverpool Cathedral.

 

Museums: Many great museums are hosted in Liverpool including the Beatles Story, Merseyside Maritime museum, World Museum, Museum of Liverpool and many more. Some of these museums including Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story are based at the Royal Albert Dock; the most visited tourist destination of the North West. The Albert Docks played a major part for Liverpool achieving a UNESCO title.

 


Anfield:
For those of you who enjoy a little English football, why not visit the home ground of the Euro champions Liverpool; a team highly admired by Country Touring.

 


For the rivals there is Everton:
For those of you who are fans of the Mersey Blues, drop by Goodison Park the home ground of Everton FC.

Blackpool

Interesting Fact: Since 1879; the Blackpool illuminations have been running for a number of months every year since and stretches 6 miles long with over a million light bulbs in unique and fun designs.

Located on the Irish Sea coast north of Liverpool; the town of Blackpool is famous for its award winning pleasure beach, bustling piers, Blackpool Tower and the famous Blackpool illuminations.

Pleasure beach: Also known as the Vegas of England, Blackpool pleasure beach was founded during the late 19th century and has grown to over 42 acres consisting of a beach, an amusement park with many themed rides, hotels and shows.

Blackpool Tower: Standing at 158m tall and inspired by the Eiffel Tower; Blackpool Tower is one of Britain’s most loved tourist attractions. The tower not only provides spectacular views of the North West but also hosts the tower ballroom where many fabulous and famous shows and events take place

Coral Island: Blackpool’s largest and free admission attraction’s where kids and adults can have fun playing games in this amusement arcade and perhaps win some prizes!

Sealife: Why not come close to the underwater creatures of Blackpool’s coastline as well as many other species across the world exhibited in unique styles. 

Madame Tussauds: The famous wax museum is still bustling with growing visitor numbers because of it’s fantastic work of art and new additions being constantly introduced.

Dungeons: The Blackpool Dungeons takes you on a thrilling interactive 4d experience of Lancashire’s medieval history.
